From March 24th to 27th.
The Prolight + Sound and Media Systems Prolight + Sound trade fairs, running in parallel to Musikmesse, in Frankfurt am Main from 24 to 27 March 2010 will be characterised by a number of important changes.
For the first time, the first two fairs will occupy the new Hall 11 of the Frankfurt Fair and Exhibition Centre while the new ‘Portalhaus’ adjoining Hall 11 will house the Media Systems Congress, the biggest training event in this fair. Additionally the ‘Portalhaus’ will act as the new main entrance for both events. In this new hall, the expos present exhibitors from the lighting and stage segments. There, visitors will find products and services in the following categories: theatre, studio, show and stage lighting, design and installation, laser and effects and stage technology and truss / rigging systems. With a total of 23,000 sqm of exhibition space, the two floors of Hall 11 provide the optimum setting to make presentations to a wide audience. ‘Portalhaus’ has numerous rooms offering additional space for events and, with congress and meeting facilities for around 800 people, it will be the new meeting place for Prolight + Sound and Media Systems Prolight +Sound. ‘Portalhaus’ is also where the ‘Opus – German Stage Award’ and ‘Sinus – Systems Integration Award’ will be presented. Also new is that manufacturers of microphones and audio equipment will present their products and services in Hall 6.1. Thanks to the close proximity of this hall to the concurrent Musikmesse (the expo for the musical-instrument industry), exhibitors will be able to make excellent use of the synergies between the two events. By occupying Hall 6.1, Prolight + Sound offers these exhibitors the perfect solution for reaching both trade visitors and end users of the Musikmesse. With the ‘remix’ and ‘recording’ product groups, Hall 5 of the Musikmesse is the venue for two related product groups. The other halls occupied by Prolight + Sound -Halls 8, 9 and 11- can be reached quickly and easily using the moving walkways of the Via Mobile.
A new special show at the Musikmesse
Vintage Show presents rare instruments and equipment in Hall 4.1 During the Musikmesse (24 to 27 March 2010), the International Vintage Show will present an interesting spectrum of rare and unusual instruments, technical equipment and memorabilia. The special show will be located in Hall 4.1 in the middle of national and international exhibitors with guitars, basses and accessories. As a result of this change, the International Vintage Show will not be held as an independent sales fair in the Congress Centre Messe Frankfurt. As an integral part of the Musikmesse, it will take the form of a special show for the duration of the fair (Wednesday, 24 March, to Saturday, 27 March 2010). Customers and fans can use their regular admission ticket to visit the International Vintage Show when the Musikmesse opens to the public on Saturday, 27 March 2010. “Unfortunately, the short time available and the difficult economic climate meant it was not possible to make the Vintage Show an independent sales fair this year”, says Musikmesse Director Wolfgang Lücke. “Additionally, the restructuring of the Musikmesse and Prolight + Sound in terms of the halls occupied prompted us to integrate the International Vintage Show into Musikmesse as a special exhibition”, adds Lücke. The Musikmesse will pursue the Vintage Show project as a sales event and do everything possible to hold it in this form next year. Information for 2011 will be available at the No.1 Guitar Center stand. A special exhibition with vintage instruments and equipment during the world’s biggest trade fair for the musical-instrument sector is an interesting option, which has been given a warm reception by the sector, and rounds off the portfolio of the Musikmesse perfectly. Many synergies are possible thanks to the high degree of internationality and the size of the fair – the entire sector meets in Frankfurt am Main during the four days of the Musikmesse from 24 to 27 April, i.e., dealers, manufacturers, collectors, musicians and fans.
