DR-1 The TASCAM DR-1 puts world-dominating power into your pocket. Its built-in stereo microphones include a unique variable angle mechanism, so you can set it to record from any angle. The DR-1 is the first portable recorder to include a 1GB card, so you'll have plenty of CD or MP3-quality recording time for long rehearsals and concerts. A pair of microphones is mounted on a variable angle mechanism, which allows the recorder to record from almost any angle. The built-in stereo condenser microphones are arranged for a wide stereo image, and an external mic can also be used. The unit includes a generous 1GB SD card for hours of recording at MP3 or WAV file formats. The DR-1 also includes auto gain control and analog limiting for easy setup and a low-frequency cutoff to eliminate handling or wind noise. TASCAM's DR-07 brings portable digital recording to an even smaller, more affordable package. A pair of highly-sensitive built in mics captures a wide stereo image, recording in either MP3 or 16/24-bit WAV format. The DR-07 is powered by AA batteries and it transfers files to a computer using a high-speed USB 2.0 connection. The versatile recorder even includes a windscreen, tripod stand mount and 2GB SD card to start recording right away. Musicians will appreciate the playback functions of the DR-07, including the ability to loop MP3s and slow them down without changing the pitch. External microphones and sources can be recorded through the mic/line input, and the recorder offers analog limiting, low cut and auto gain setting for great-sounding audio. But for great-sounding recordings, the compact DR-07 is all you need. DR-100 The rugged TASCAM DR-100 offers high-end recording features to musicians and engineers who demand more from their portable recorder. It features four built-in microphones, two cardioid and two omnidirectional, with analog limiting and filtering for great-sounding recordings. A pair of XLR microphone inputs with phantom power welcomes pro-grade condenser microphones, and line in and out connectors are also provided. The DR-100 includes a rechargeable Lithium-ion battery, but can also be powered by AA batteries or an optional AC adapter. A built-in speaker allows for instant playback, and the metal enclosure includes a tripod mounting hole for recording flexibility. A wireless remote control is also included for remotely starting the recording. GT-R1 With TASCAM's GT-R1, you can plug in and record anywhere. It combines a portable recorder with an instrument trainer for the ultimate songwriter's toolkit. Record using the built-in stereo condenser microphones, or plug in your guitar or bass to record using the amp simulator, reverb and multi-effects. The GT-R1's built-in rhythm machine sets the groove when beginning your song, and the overdub mode allows you to build a song step-by-step. TASCAM's GT-R1 records in MP3 or WAV format, 16-bit or 24-bit. A generous 1GB SD card is included to get you started, and the USB 2.0 jack charges the recorder and copies your recordings to your PC or Mac. There's a low cut filter and analog limiter to keep levels under control, whether you're improvising in the studio or recording rehearsals or concerts.

BIDIRECTIONAL RIBBON MICROPHONES
Audio-Technica, a leading innovator in transducer technology for over 45 years, unveils its first-ever ribbon microphones, the AT4080 and AT4081, two new offerings from A-T’s expanding 40 Series. Audio-Technica’s R&D team in Japan engineered and manufactured the AT4080 and AT4081 from the ground up, utilizing a hand-built, proprietary design and rugged, durable construction. Both offer smooth, warm and natural sound with precise, articulate detail to meet the critical requirements of today’s recording, broadcast and sound reinforcement professionals. With 18 patents pending, Audio-Technica’s innovative ribbon transducer advances the evolution of ribbon microphone technology, combining remarkable durability and high SPL capability with smooth, rich audio quality. The AT4080, whose footprint is that of a classic “suspension cradled” side-address condenser, is recommended for vocals, horns, strings, acoustic instruments, drum overheads, orchestras, ensembles and guitar cabinets. The AT4081, with an appearance more like that of a pencil condenser, is optimized for strings, saxophones and other horns, acoustic instruments, drum overheads, orchestras, ensembles and guitar cabinets; its low-profile stick design maximizes placement options. Both mics excel in recording studios as well as in live-sound settings. The AT4080 and AT4081 are side-address ribbon microphones with bidirectional polar patterns. Delivering the versatile performance and warm, natural sound of classic ribbon microphones, the AT4080 and AT4081 each feature a robust build for long-lasting performance and offer phantom-powered active electronics for easy use with microphone preamplifiers. Extremely powerful N50 rare-earth neodymium magnets provide high output levels, and the mics’ innovative dual ribbon construction offers increased sensitivity and SPL handling capability. The bidirectional polar pattern of the mics makes them equally sensitive to sounds originating in front and back of the mic. Both feature extended frequency response for natural audio reproduction, and the AT4080 utilizes an acoustic baffle system and an extra-large output transformer, providing extended low-frequency response and dynamic range. The AT4080 and AT4081 both benefit from Audio-Technica’s meticulous attention to detail. Each microphone is handmade in Japan, including ribbon corrugation, imprint and assembly. Both models feature a rugged and durable construction, making them far more robust than other ribbon mics. And like all 40 Series microphones, each and every AT4080 and AT4081 microphone is individually tested and inspected for 100 percent quality assurance. A significant breakthrough in ribbon cartridge design, Audio-Technica’s patent-pending MicroLinear™ ribbon imprint minimizes lateral flexing for durable performance and accurate reproduction of the sound source, as well as freedom from ribbon distortion. The AT4080 and AT4081 are enclosed in rugged housings and feature stabilized internal components. Both employ ultra-fine inner mesh to help protect the ribbon elements against damage from wind and plosives. Combined, these engineering features result in a ribbon microphone of unparalleled durability. While the application of phantom power was prohibited for typical ribbon microphones, the AT4080 and AT4081 in fact require 48V phantom power for operation. The phantom power, however, is used not for the microphones’ dynamic ribbon transducers, but for their active electronics, which bring their output to near condenser microphone level. This high output and stable impedance make the microphones easy to integrate with microphone preamplifiers. The output of each microphone is a 3-pin XLRM-type connector. Output is low impedance (Lo-Z) balanced.
